Rev. Dr. Clay Evans, who led the Concerned Clergy for a Better Chicago, met with Bishop Porter to discuss the possibility of him becoming the new chairman. As a result, in July 2011, Interfaith Illinois Inc. was formed, evolving from the former Concerned Clergy for a Better Chicago.

Under Bishop Porter’s guidance. IFI expanded its membership and reputation. The organization launched various community initiatives, including youth summits, job fairs, and political forums. A highlight was IFI's significant role in collaborating with diverse faith groups and the South African Consulate to host the 100th birthday celebration of the late President Nelson Mandela on July 17, 2018, at Chicago State University.

Bishop Dr. Reginald Saffo has extensive experience in community transformation and holds multiple academic qualifications, including a Ph.D. in Urban Ministry from Aspen Theological Seminary. He has dedicated 26 years to Christian education and over 30 years to community development.
He leads various community projects and has received several honors, including the NAACP Medal of Freedom. As the founder of United Faith Christian Institute, he also serves in numerous leadership and advisory roles
